Subscribe to The Real Deadwood Podcast
Subscribing to The Real Deadwood Podcast ensures that you will always have the latest show to enjoy automatically. There are several ways to do this:

  1. Subscribe through email
    • The easiest way of all to subscribe to The Real Deadwood Podcast is to enter your email address in the box below. Whenever a new show is available, you will automatically receive an email with a direct link to the show so you can either listen to it or copy it to your computer for transfer to your portable audio device. After you click the "subscribe me" button below, you will receive a confirmation email at the address you enter containing a link to click to complete your subscription.

  2. Subscribe through iTunes:
    • If you don't have iTunes on your computer, clicking this link will take you to the iTunes website download page (uncheck the square boxes and you won't have to give an email address).
    • Follow the directions to download and install iTunes, and you will have access to millions of songs available for purchase, as well as one of the best jukebox programs available for playing your current song collection, as well as the premiere podcast subscription solution.
    • Once it's installed, or if you already have iTunes, click on the button on the right side of this page that says "iTunes." iTunes will automatically open and you'll be taken to the Real Deadwood Podcast page in iTunes.
    • Click the "subscribe" button there and whenever a new show is available, iTunes will notice and automatically download it to your computer, where you can play it in iTunes or use iTunes to copy it to your portable audio device.

  3. Subscribe with a Live Bookmark in Firefox:
    • If you use Firefox to browse the web, you can take advantage of the Live Bookmarks feature. It automatically keeps track of podcast and blog feeds, so you always know when new content has been added. This feature will be added to the new version of Internet Explorer, which is due to be out by the end of the year.
      • When you're on The Real Deadwood Podcast's home page and you're using Firefox to browse the web, you'll see this feed icon either in the upper- or lower-righthand corner, depending on which version of Firefox you're using.
      • Click on the icon and Firefox will bring up the Add Live Bookmark box. Click "OK." Then click on "Bookmarks" in Firefox's top menu. You will now see a bookmark for The Real Deadwood Podcast with the orange feed icon. Point at it with your cursor and you'll see direct links to all the episodes.
      • That's it. Every time you start Firefox, it will check The Real Deadwood Podcast feed to see if a new episode has been added. If it has, the new episode will automatically appear in the bookmark list. Click it to hear the latest show.

  4. Subscribe on a podcasting website
    • You can establish your own personal subscription page on a number of podcasting websites. For every podcast you subscribe to, you can either listen to the shows from your page or you can download the shows to your computer for listening or transfer to your portable audio device. Every time you go to your page, it will check your subscribed podcasts to see if there is a new show.
      • If you don't already have a personal page, I recommend Odeo — it's one of the best. Click the "Odeo" button.
      • If you already have a podcast subscription page at one of the websites listed on a button, click the button and you'll go to The Real Deadwood Podcast page on that website where you can click a "subscribe" button.

  5. Subscribe through a podcasting program, or "podcatcher"
    • Click the "podcatchers" button on the upper left of this page to see a list of popular podcast receiving programs, or podcatchers.
    • Pick one, download it, and install it.
    • Do one of the following:
      • Right-click either the"XML" or "subscribe pod" button on the right side of this page and from the popup menu choose "Copy Shortcut" or "Copy Link Location" or
      • Click the "subscribe pod" button and copy the address that shows up in the "Address:" area at the top of this webpage window:
        • drag across the address to highlight it (if it isn't highlighted already) and choose "Edit > Copy" from the menu at the top of the screen, or
        • right-click the highlighted address and choose "Copy" from the popup menu
    • Go to the subscription area of your podcatching program and choose "Edit > Paste" from the menu at the top of the screen, or right-click in the proper place in your program and choose "Paste" from the popup menu
    • Now whenever you start your podcatcher (some of them stay running all the time), it will check for a new Real Deadwood Podcast, and if it finds one it will automatically download it to your computer for you to listen to or copy to your portable audio device.
